And here we are again talking about the most famous Italian design duo in the world. Dolce and Gabbana, according to the Instagram profile of Stefano, once again did it right.

Premise that these days in Italy the government is voting to approve the law in favor of civil unions and the so-called “stepchild adoptions”, which, without even need to say it, will allow gay couples to be recognized and it would lead to legally regulate the situation of those that we call Famiglie Arcobaleno (Rainbow Families) allowing the adoption of the biological parent’s children by the partners of any sex.

Yes, sir, with a ‘mea culpa’ we admit that we are still far behind in terms of equal rights, but we’re working on it and hopefully we’ll become a country (more) civil as soon as possible.

Having said that we have to take a small step back in time to the second important premise.

In March 2015, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana had been the subject of controversy for unwelcome statement during an interview with the Italian magazine Panorama.

Domenico Dolce had expressed against “the sons of chemistry”

“… You are born and you have a father and a mother. Or at least it should be so, that’s why not convince me what I call the children of chemistry, synthetic children. Wombs for rent, seeds selected from a catalog. And then go on to explain to these children who the mother is. But would you agree to be the daughter of chemistry? Procreate should be an act of love, now not even psychiatrists are prepared to deal with the effects of these experiments. “

…and again

“I’m gay, I can not have a child. I believe that we can not have everything in life, if there isn’t then it’s not meant to be. It is also good to deprive yourself of something. Life has its natural course, there are things that must not be changed. And one of these is the family.”

(I’ll spare to express myself about… no, just two words … I personally find the statement very pay-elton-john-and-david-furnishhard and very debatable and I do not agree at all with it but I also believe in freedom of speech and his personal opinion does not necessarily represent the policy of the brand).

After the inevitable reactions of many celebrities with Elton John on top, railing against them “just a little” angry, Domenico Dolce in another interview, this time at Vogue, apologized publicly

“I’m so sorry. I did not want to offend anyone, “he said. “I made a soul research. I talked a lot with Stefano about this subject and I realized that my words were inadequate. “

Today, after less than a year, Stefano Gabbana posts on his Instagram profile the following photos.

Obviously the evils will doubt if such a public apology by Domenico Dolce is only a strategic move, a way to make amends and regain the public’s favor, to clean conscience and be forgiven. I think that I do not care. I think that again Dolce & Gabbana have used their brand and their art to convey a message.

Focus of advertising campaigns and collections in recent years for them was the family, the traditional Italian (Sicilian) family. The family as a clan led by strong women who scream at their children and take the reins. Mom like the sun around which the world turns, as the bearer of life and love, and especially the one that holds together the family.

British singer Elton John slammed Italian fashion duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana on Sunday and called for a boycott of their brand after the pair championed "traditional" families. But the family represented today on their bags and T-shirts is not necessarily with a mom, ’cause as important as she is, sometimes, for various reasons, a mother may not be there. And sometimes there can be two. And these new groups are perhaps less worthy of being called Families?

Dolce & Gabbana’s answer is given so, using their creativity to tell the world that the family is where there is love and no matter how many fathers, mothers or children are there.

So no, I do not care if it’s publicity stunt, or if it’s about money etc etc, I am an eternal romantic and I believe in good faith and if the message is positive, well let’s buy these bags for god sake and show them to the world!

We are Italian and we have values, one of which is La Famiglia, of all colors!
